My work reflects the knowledge of a horse’s movement, their expressions, and the joy in the human relationship with these beautiful animals. Its my lifetime love, personal and professional experiences with horses that has created my devotion to capture the spirit of the horse in my photography.
How I first became involved with horses...
It was my mother's fault for pushing my baby stroller past a field with a pony - one of my first words. Later in life while balancing a corporate career I also owned horses, co-owned an equine business, and expanded my exposure to many disciplines while developing my talents in equine photo journalism.
Where does my passion for horses come from?
Every horse I have owned has a story and much of that story required me to protect them with compassionate care and select careful re-training to allow the horse to discover that humans are capable of kindness and love. What each horse has given back to me is well worth the journey they asked me to take with them beyond the ribbons and USDF national awards.
How do I know when I get the right shot?
A stallion at liberty, inspired by the messages of his genes, using chiseled muscles and unleashing a spirit at freedom is a moment both fleeting and powerful. When I capture that perfect shot - it literally takes my breath away.
